CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches (ACWPC) announced its 2018 Women's All-Academic Awards earlier this week. Twelve members of the Harvard women's water polo team earned recognition for their academic accomplishments, while also posting the highest cumulative GPA in the country.
A total of 543 student-athletes earned ACWPC Scholar-Athlete honors. Nominations were submitted by head coaches with team members being recognized in three categories: Outstanding (4.0-3.71 GPA), Superior (3.7-3.41 GPA) and Excellent (3.4-3.2 GPA). The women's teams, led by Friends of Harvard Water Polo Head Coach Ted Minnis, have earned 87 ACWPC distinctions during his eight seasons with the Crimson.
The trio of Olivia Price, Mathilde Ribordy and Sami Strutner took home Outstanding honors. This recognition was the fourth-straight for Strutner, having earned Superior honors during her first three seasons.
Student-athletes receiving Superior recognition were: Lana Gorlinski, Cleo Harrington, Sam Acker, Jilly Cronin, Angelica Varona, Kristen Hong and Ryan Remedy. Sofia Carerra-Justiz and Julie Harrison were named to the Excellent list, rounding out the Harvard selections.
In addition to earning 12 ACWPC All-Academic distinctions, the Crimson also posted a cumulative team GPA of 3.63, which was the highest in the country.
