  • Harrington Named Player of Game as No. 23 Women’s Water Polo Defeats George Washington

    Senior goalie Cleo Harrington and the No. 23 Harvard women’s water polo team shut out George Washington through the first half of play and stormed to a 10-2 victory in the seventh-place match of the 2018 Collegiate Water Polo Association Tournament on Sunday. Harrington made 13 saves earning Player of the Game honors, while fellow senior Sami Strutner scored once, assisted another goal, and had two steals in their final game for the Crimson (17-19).
  • No. 23 Women’s Water Polo Defeats St. Francis, Falls to No. 10 Princeton at CWPA Tournament

    The No. 23 Harvard women’s water polo team kicked off the CWPA Tournament Friday defeating St. Francis (Pa.), 11-3, advancing to play No. 10 Princeton in the evening. The Crimson challenged its Ivy rival, but fell in the end, 12-4.
  • No. 23 Women’s Water Polo Falls to CWPA Tournament Host Bucknell

    The No. 23 Harvard women’s water polo team fell to Bucknell, 10-5, on Saturday evening at the CWPA Tournament. Senior Sami Strutner led the Crimson (16-19) with three points (1g, 2a) and a trio of steals, while sophomore Sofia Carrera-Justiz scored twice in the loss to the Bison (15-18). Senior goalie Cleo Harrington made 10 saves and had an assist in Kinney Natatorium.
  • CWPA Championship Approaches for No. 23 Women’s Water Polo

    The 2018 CWPA Championship is up for grabs this weekend as the No. 23 Harvard women’s water polo team heads to Bucknell University. The Crimson (15-17) have the eighth seed after going 2-6 in conference action and will meet ninth-seed Saint Francis (12-16, 0-8 CWPA) in the first matchup of the tournament. Harvard and the Red Flash will kick-off the weekend’s action on Friday, April 27 at noon in Kinney Natatorium. The winner advances to play the league’s top-seed, No. 10 Princeton (21-7, 8-0 CWPA) at 6 p.m. Stretch Internet will be streaming all the matches at a cost of $10 per game or $25 for the entire gamut.

    Junior attacker Kristen Hong has been named to the All-CWPA Division I All-Conference second team, as announced by the league office Thursday, April 26. This marks the second-straight second team recognition for Hong.
  • No. 19 Women’s Water Polo Stumbles at No. 11 Princeton

    The No. 19 Harvard women’s water polo team fell to No. 11 Princeton, 13-7, on Sunday morning in DeNunzio Pool. Sophomores Mathilde Ribordy and Julie Harrison, as well as freshman Olivia Price each scored twice for the Crimson (15-17, 2-6 CWPA). Senior goalie Cleo Harrington stopped 12 shots in the final regular-season game.
  • No. 19 Women’s Water Polo Suffers Two Losses Saturday

    The No. 19 Harvard women’s water polo team suffered a pair of setbacks Saturday, falling in its morning tilt to Bucknell, 9-8, and then dropping a 14-12 decision to George Washington in its nightcap. Both games were played at Princeton.

    The 2018 regular season will conclude for the No. 19 Harvard women's water polo team this weekend. The Crimson (15-14, 2-3 CWPA) will play three conference matches at Princeton, taking on Bucknell and George Washington on Saturday, April 14, before facing No. 11 Princeton on Sunday at 10:30 a.m. Harvard’s showdown with the Tigers (17-7, 4-0 CWPA) will be broadcast on ESPNU. Fans unable to make it to the games can watch the other contests live on the Ivy League Network.

    The No. 19 Harvard women’s water polo team fell in an overtime thriller to Brown, 10-8, on Wednesday night in Katherina Moran Coleman Aquatics Center. Sophomores Mathilde Ribordy and Julie Harrison led the Crimson (15-14, 2-3 CWPA) with two goals and five points (1g, 4a), respectively. Senior goalie Cleo Harrington made 12 saves in the loss to the Bears (14-14, 2-3 CWPA).

    The No. 22 Harvard women’s water polo team will make the quick trip to Providence, Rhode Island Wednesday evening to take on Brown in a conference matchup. Game time is slated for 7 p.m. and fans unable to make it to the game can watch the broadcast live on the Ivy League Network.

    For the second time this season, the No. 22 Harvard women’s polo team emerged from its home pool victorious against a higher-ranked opponent. Seniors Sami Strutner and Cleo Harrington led the Crimson (15-13, 2-2 CWPA) to an upset of No. 12 Hartwick, 12-10, in their final match at Blodgett Pool. Freshman Quinne Pursell registered two hat-tricks to lead Harvard on the day with seven goals as the Crimson fell to No. 9 Michigan (27-7, 5-0 CWPA), 12-7, in an early afternoon contest and defeated of the Hawks (27-9, 4-2 CWPA) for just the sixth time in program history.

    Opening day of the No. 22 Harvard women’s water polo conference season produced one win and a loss as the Crimson (14-12, 1-1 CWPA). Sophomores Julie Harrison and Mathilde Ribordy led the Crimson with six points on the day. Both scored four times and assisted two goals, as Harvard defeated Saint Francis, 14-4, before falling to No. 13 Indiana, 7-6. Senior captains Cleo Harrington and Sami Strutner were recognized prior to the match versus Indiana.
  • No. 22 Harvard Hosts Trio of Ranked Teams as CWPA Action Begins With 17 Games at Blodgett

    The No. 22 Harvard women’s water polo team will begin conference play against St. Francis (12-9) and No. 13 Indiana in Blodgett Pool on Saturday, April 7. The Crimson (13-11) take to the pool on Sunday versus No. 9 Michigan and No. 12 Hartwick. A total of 17 Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) contests will take place in Blodgett Pool, with all the matches being broadcast on the Ivy League Network. Senior captains Sami Strutner and Cleo Harrington will be recognized prior to the matchup against the Hoosiers at 7 p.m. on Saturday.
  • Ivy League Enhances Exposure, Fan Experience with Long-Term ESPN Agreement

    The Ivy League and ESPN have agreed to a long-term relationship to showcase Ivy League events through a variety of ESPN platforms, including at least 24 events annually on ESPN’s linear networks and more than 1,100 annually on ESPN+. This will include coverage for all 42 Harvard varsity programs.

    Freshman Oliva Price erupted with five goals and sophomore Mathilde Ribordy accounted for seven points (4g, 3a) to lift the No. 22 Harvard women’s water polo team past George Washington, 14-8, on Sunday morning. The Crimson (13-11) defeat of the Colonials marked its conclusion of the Red Flash Tournament.

  • Offense Clicks as No. 22 Women’s Water Polo Overpowers St. Francis, Edged by No. 13 Indiana

    The 22nd-ranked Harvard women’s water polo toppled St. Francis, 13-7, and fell to No. 13 Indiana by one goal, 11-10, on Saturday at the Red Flash Tournament in Stokes Natatorium. Junior Kristen Hong powered the Crimson offense with three goals against Indiana and scored four times against St. Francis, while junior Haley Bowe recorded her first collegiate hat trick against St. Francis.
  • Balanced Offense, Strong Goaltending Yield Two Wins for No. 22 Women's Water Polo

    The No. 22 Harvard women’s water polo team busted out its highest single-day offensive output of the month and produced strong goaltending to close out the Loyola Marymount Invitational with two victories. The Crimson (11-10) handed No. 24 California Baptist a 7-4 loss and five student-athletes registered multiple goals to drown out Fresno Pacific, 14-7, in an afternoon contest.
  • No. 22 Women’s Water Polo Defeats No. 23 Marist, Falls to No. 11 LMU

    On the first day of the LMU Invitational, the Harvard women’s water polo team (9-10) defeated No. 23 Marist, 7-5, but fell in its nightcap to No. 11 LMU, 10-5.

    Sophomore Sofia Carrera-Justiz scored twice and had three steals, but the No. 22 Harvard women’s water polo team (8-9) fell at No. 7 UC-Irvine Thursday evening, 16-6.
