Hong and Martinelli Selected to CWPA Championship All-Tournament Teams

Sophomore Kristen Hong and senior Michelle Martinelli helped lead Harvard to its highest finish at the CWPA Championships since 2000 (Gil Talbot).

BRIDGEPORT, Pa.
– Sophomore Kristen Hong and senior Michelle Martinelli were selected to the CWPA Championship All-Tournament teams for their performances at the CWPA Championships this past weekend. The Crimson recorded its best finish since the 2000 campaign, earning fourth overall.

Hong earned CWPA Championship All-Tournament first team recognition after notching five goals and five steals over the three games in the tournament. Hong was instrumental in Harvard's 12-11 win over No. 16 Indiana, scoring a game-high four goals, including the game-winner with just over two minutes to play.

Hong led Harvard with 50 goals over the season, scoring multiple times in 14 games. She had two scoring streaks of at least 10 consecutive games, and also added 16 assists and 28 steals on the year.

Martinelli earned second team honors after leading the Crimson with seven goals over the three-game stretch, highlighted by back-to-back hat tricks against No. 7 Michigan and Hartwick. The senior captain also dished out three assists and three steals to help guide the Crimson to its fourth-place finish.

Martinelli did it all for Harvard this season, totaling 46 goals, 23 assists and 23 steals. She was one of four Crimson with at least 20 assists and 20 steals, and ranked second in scoring. Martinelli ended the year on an 11-game scoring streak, including two career-high five-goal outings during that span.
