The duo led Harvard to its sixth home win of the season (Gil Talbot).
BRIDGEPORT, Pa. – Cleo Harrington and Kristen Hong took home a pair of CWPA Division I/II weekly honors, as the league announced today. Harrington was named Defensive Player of the Week, while Hong was tabbed Rookie of the Week.
Harrington stopped eight shots in net in Harvard's 11-10 win over Hartwick March 24 in its final regular season game at Blodgett Pool of the season. The sophomore's biggest saved of the night came on a 5-meter penalty shot that would have made it a one-goal game midway through the fourth period and she also added in three steals. With her fourth honor of the season, Harrington sets the record for earning the most Defensive Player of the Week honors in a single season, surpassing Ariel Dukes '15 who collected three in 2013.
Hong earns her third-straight Rookie of the Week title after registering a goal, an assist and a steal against Hartwick. The freshman leads the Crimson with 59 goals and 32 steals and is tied for second with 26 assists. Hong further indents her name in the Harvard record book with her fifth Rookie of the Week honors of the season.
Harvard will have weekend off before it heads to Ann Arbor, Michigan for a trio of CWPA games against Indiana and Michigan April 9 before closing out the trip against Princeton the following day. The Crimson's contest against Michigan can be seen live on the Big Ten Network.
