BRIDGEPORT, Pa. – Sophomore goalie Cleo Harrington and freshman attacker Kristen Hong earned a pair of CWPA Division I/II weekly honors, as the league announced today. Harrington was named Defensive Player of the Week, while Hong earned Rookie of the Week honors for the second time this season.
Harrington tallied a pair of double-digit save efforts in wins over No. 23 Cal Baptist and No. 22 Wagner Saturday at the Princeton Invitational, helping Harvard sweep its games at the invitational for the first time in program history. The Costa Mesa, California native stopped 12 shots in an 8-4 win against Cal Baptist and followed with 10 saves in a 7-6 decision over Wagner. The honor gives Harrington her second Defensive Player of the Week award of her career.
Hong continued her steak of netting at least one goal in each game this season, adding six scores to go with two steals and one assist at the Princeton Invitational. The freshman started her weekend with a hat trick and a steal against Cal Baptist and added another tally against Wagner. The Orinda, California native closed out the invitational with a pair of goals and a steal in an 11-9 victory over Villanova.
Harvard will have two weekends off from competition before it returns to the pool as it hosts the Harvard Invitational March 5-6. The Crimson will open up play against Mercyhurst and Princeton and follow up with contests against Siena and Fresno Pacific.
