Women's Water Polo Italy Training Blog Day Four

Women's Water Polo Italy Training Blog Day Four

By: Michelle Martinelli

Day four began with another early wake up and another delicious breakfast. Everyone treated themselves to multiple cappuccinos and espressos in an attempt to escape sleep's sweet embrace.

After a short train ride, we found ourselves in the town of Camogli where we helped ourselves to even more espresso in a coffee shop owned by the Cassie Azevedo. For those that aren't immediately struck by the last name, Azevedo, Tony Azevedo is arguably the most famous water polo player of all time. Needless to say, this coffee shop left more of an impression on the team than most do.

We then headed to the seaside town of Santa Margherita for more sightseeing and more pictures. After touring through the town and another breath-taking church, we began walking along the Mediterranean to the town of Portofino. Tired from our previous journeys, we decided to catch a bus about halfway through the trip.

In Portofino, we walked up a large hill and again found ourselves at a loss for breath at the top (because of both the views and the steep incline). The team decided this would be a nice place for a little photo shoot fun.

After heading back to Santa Margherita, we found lunch, being sure to stick to our strict training diet of pizza, pasta, and gelato. We then hurried back to the train station so that we could catch a little mid-afternoon nap before training with the Bogliasco team tonight!

This trip has been nothing short of amazing and we can't wait to continue sharing our adventures with our friends and family back home! Thank you for the support!

Buona notte!
