CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - The Harvard women's water polo team has released its schedule for the 2013 season. The Crimson hosts two games and the Harvard Kick Off Tournament and travels California, New Jersey and Pennsylvania as the team looks to reach the CWPA Eastern Championships for the fifth straight year.
Harvard gets its season started in early February with the Harvard Kick Off Tournament at Blodgett Pool Feb. 2-4. The Crimson entertains Cal Baptist Feb. 7 before hitting the road for the first of six trips. Harvard begins its away slate with a trip to New Jersey for the Princeton Invite, where it will face California, New York Athletic Club, Villanova and the host Tigers Feb. 9-10. Harvard concludes the month with a visit to Philadelphia for the Villanova Invite and games against Wagner, Iona, Villanova and Siena Feb. 23-24.
After a short break, the Crimson hit the road again and head to Erie, Pennsylvania to face Mercyhurst and Bucknell March 2-3. Harvard will then take a two-week hiatus after the trip to the Keystone State before traveling to California for eight games during spring break. The road trip opens at UC Santa Clara with games against the Broncos and the Tigers of Occidental College March 17. Harvard travels to UC Davis to face off against the Aggies and Fresno Pacific the following day. The Crimson will spend the remainder of the week competing against Pacific (March 19), San Jose State (March 21), Stanford (March 22), and California (March 23).
After almost two full months on the road, Harvard finally returns home to Blodgett Pool for senior day against Ivy League foe Brown April 3. The Crimson heads back to Princeton three days later for contests against the Tigers and George Washington. From there, Harvard travels to Providence, R.I. for the Brown Invite April 7 before returning the following weekend for the CWPA Southern Division Championships April 13-14. The team then heads to Ann Arbor, Mich. for the Eastern Championships April 26-28 for a chance to qualify for the NCAA Championships, which will be held at Blodgett Pool May 10-12.
The Crimson went 17-12 and placed seventh at the CWPA Eastern Championships last year.
