BRIDGEPORT, Pa. – Harvard women's water polo freshman Shayna Price was named Collegiate Water Polo Association Southern Division Defensive Player of the Week Tuesday for helping lead the Crimson to a 2-0 Saturday with wins against visiting Connecticut College and Marist.
Price contributed three goals, four assists and five steals on the day. In the doubleheader opener against Connecticut College, Price's four steals in the game led all Harvard players, as the Crimson totaled 20 takeaways in the contest. The rookie tied for the team lead in goals with three. 11 different Harvard players found the back of the net in the 19-2 win over the Camels. Price also assisted on two goals, accounting for five of the Crimson's 19 scores.
Against Marist in the nightcap, Price assisted on two goals and had another steal to bring her two-game total to five, in Harvard's 13-12 double overtime victory over the Red Foxes. With the three-goal, four-assist, five-steal day, Price now totals 31 scores, 15 helpers and 36 takeaways on the season.
Harvard heads to Lewisburg, Pa., to take on Princeton and host Bucknell in two Collegiate Water Polo Association games Saturday. Action starts at 10 a.m. inside the Bison's Kinney Natatorium.
