Kennifer Scores Five in Harvard Women's Water Polo Win Over Wagner

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The Harvard women's water polo team opened a three-game homestand Sunday by getting back to its winning ways with a 12-8, non-conference victory over visiting Wagner at Blodgett Pool.
Junior co-captain Devan Kennifer notched five scores and had five takeaways on the defensive end to lead the Crimson (11-9, 1-0 CWPA). Sophomore Elise Molnar had three goals and juniors Shannon Purcell and Monica Zdrojewski had two apiece.
Harvard totaled 17 steals as a team Sunday, with eight players recording at least one takeaway and five grabbing two or more. The Crimson upped the defensive effort in holding its opponent under 10 goals for the 11th time this spring. Harvard is 11-1 when holding opponents to nine goals or less this season.
The Crimson will play its final home games of the season Saturday when it hosts a doubleheader with Connecticut College and Marist in attendance. The evening will include senior night proceedings.
