Women’s Tennis Continues Strong Play With 6-1 Victory Against Quinnipiac

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The Harvard women's tennis team continued its strong play on Saturday with a 6-1 victory against Quinnipiac at the Murr Center Courts.

The Crimson registered another solid doubles performance, quickly winning its two matches to capture the early point. The pairing of senior Erica Oosterhout and junior Natasha Gonzalez breezed to a 6-0 victory against Jennifer Lu and Layla Rodriguez at the top position. The duo was quickly followed by senior Isabel Jasper and first-year Annika Bassey's point-clinching 6-1 victory at No. 3. 

Harvard continued its success into singles play, beginning with a quick victory for Oosterhout as she defeated Lu, 6-2, 6-1, at the top of the order. Junior Irene Lu followed with the team's third point, taking down Proyfon Lohaphaisan, 6-2, 6-1, at No. 4. Friedel, who was playing at the second spot, registered the team's clinching point with a 6-1, 6-1 victory against Kamilla Nela.

Harvard Highlights:

  • The Crimson improve to 2-0 all-time against the Bobcats.
  • First-year Rachel Lim and sophomore Neha Gupta both earned two-set victories at Nos. 3 and 6, respectively. 
  • Gonzalez continued her winning ways, adding to her team-leading 10 wins in singles play. 
  • At the team's top spot, Oosterhout has won her last three matches and four of her last five.

Up Next:
The Crimson will turn around and play another match Sunday at 11 a.m. against Memphis. Following the match, the team will host a youth and community day clinic for kids 8th grade and younger. Free pizza will be served for the first 50 Harvard fans. The match will also be broadcast on ESPN+.
