CAMBRIDGE, Mass– Returning to the Murr Center Tennis Courts, Harvard women's tennis excelled in the Harvard Fall Scramble, winning 15 singles matches and eight doubles matches this past weekend.
Day 1: Harvard vs. Fordham
The Crimson kicked off the weekend with six match victories. In doubles play, Harvard took two out of three, including a 6-0 win by first-years Rachel Lim and Chelsea Williams and a 6-3 victory for junior Lexi Milunovich and sophomore Anna Li. Lim, Williams and Milunovich also earned wins in singles along with junior Irene Lu.
Day 2: Harvard vs. Seton Hall
Harvard continued winning on day two, which included two doubles wins and 6-0 mark in singles play. Lim and senior Erica Oosterhout earned a 7-5 victory together, while senior Isabel Jasper and sophomore Neha Gupta played to a 6-1 triumph. In singles play, Lu grinded out a tough 6-4, 2-6, 10-6 win. Williams continued her hot start to her collegiate tennis career with a three-set victory (6-2, 4-6, 10-7).
Day 3: Harvard vs. Rhode Island
The Crimson rounded out the weekend in impressive fashion, winning nine matches including all four doubles games. The junior duo of Lu and Jenna Friedel earned a 6-0 victory in doubles. Gupta and Lim also added a 6-0 victory in doubles. Junior Natasha Gonzalez earned a singles victory (6-4, 6-4) while first-year Annika Bassey fought hard for a 6-1, 7-6(5) win.
- On the weekend, the Crimson went 15-3 in singles play and 8-3 in doubles action.
- Harvard first-years earned wins seven of the eight singles matches they played over the course of the weekend.
- Lim went undefeated on the weekend, winning three doubles matches and two singles matches.
- Williams also was unmatched this weekend, winning all three singles matches and both doubles matches.
The Crimson will stay home and prepare to host the next home tournament, the Harvard Invitational on Nov. 2 - Nov. 4.
