Junior Erica Oosterhout earned her 11th singles victory with a two-set win in first singles (Gil Talbot).
PRINCETON, N.J. –The Harvard women's tennis team suffered a tough loss against Penn, 4-3, at the ECAC Championships on Saturday morning.
Harvard jumped in front early, claiming the doubles point. Junior Erica Oosterhout and Natasha Gonzalez earned their eighth doubles victory as partners, following a 6-2 win over Jimena Rodriguez-Benito and OJ Singh in second doubles. Freshman Neha Gupta and junior Isabel Jasper sealed the doubles point with a 6-3 decision over Marta Kowalska and Marija Curnic in third doubles.
The Crimson nearly had the opportunity for the straight sweep of doubles. First doubles tandem, senior Annika Ringblom and freshman Anna Li appeared to be on pace for their 10th doubles victory, leading 5-4 over Lina Qostal and Ashley Zhu.
In singles, the Crimson received exceptional performances from the top of its lineup. Despite trailing in the first set of first singles, Oosterhout battled back to knock off Qostal in two sets, 7-5, 6-1. Ringblom was just as solid at second singles with a two-set, 6-4, 6-0, victory over Rodriguez-Benito. However, the Quakers pulled out four straight wins at the bottom of their singles lineup.

Harvard returns to Cambridge, Mass., hosting Boston College on Saturday, Feb. 24 at 1 p.m. The match will be broadcast on the Ivy League Network.
