CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Junior Erica Oosterhout fell in the final match of the pre-qualifying singles tournament at the Riviera/ITA All-American Championship in Pacific Palisades, Calif. on Sunday afternoon.
In her first match, Oosterhout bounded back from an 0-1 hole to Ole Miss' Anna Vrbenska. Oosterhout took the second set with ease, 6-2, before taking the tird set, 6-4, to advance to face Kansas' Despoina Vogasari.
After defeating Vogasari in two sets, 7-5, 6-2, Oosterhout was one win away from advancing to the All-American qualifying singles round. Standing in her way was North Carolina's Alexandra Sanford. Oosterhout battled Sanford, but she was unable to pull off her third win, falling, 6-1, 6-3.
