CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The Harvard women's tennis team completed a three-match sweep at home, with 4-3 and 4-0 marks against Georgetown and Rhode Island Sunday afternoon after completing a 5-2 victory over the Boston College Eagles on Saturday afternoon.
Harvard (3-4) faced the Georgetown Hoyas Sunday morning. Although the Hoyas were able to clinch the doubles point, the Crimson fought back, going 4-2 in singles play.
Oosterhout continued on her streak, battling with Victoire Saperstein in the first position. Saperstein took the first set, 4-6, but Oosterhout caught up with a 6-1 win in the second stanza. Oosterhout and Saperstein battled to a 6-2 decision in the tie-breaker.
June Lee faced Rise Nakagawa in the second position, securing a 6-1, 6-2 record. The senior captain leads the Crimson with a 5-1 record in dual action. Irene Lu earned a 6-0, 6-1 win against Sara Swift in the third position, while Annika Ringblom took the point in the fourth position with a 6-2, 7-6 victory over Sydney Goodson.
Next up, Harvard faced Rhode Island Sunday afternoon. The Crimson earned the doubles point with solid efforts from Gonzalez/Lu and Lee/ Xiong. The freshman duo of Natasha Gonzalez and Irene Lu took down Rhode Island's Rachel Smilansky and Emily Zargham, 6-1 in the first position. Lee and Sabrina Xiong swept Mihaela Codreanu and Tiara Higuchi 6-0 in the second slot.
In singles play, Lee led the Crimson with a 6-0, 6-0 sweep over Codreaunu. Lu took the point in the second position, with a 6-3, 6-0 result. Angelina Ye made her debut in the sixth position, earning a 6-1, 6-3 win against Paige Alshon.
