CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The Harvard women's tennis team will kick off its 2017 campaign on the road at Northwestern and DePaul on January 21 and 22, respectively.  Saturday's matchup vs Northwestern will begin at 12 p.m. at the Combe Tennis Center, and Sunday's competition vs DePaul will begin at 2 p.m. at the Lakeshore Sport & Fitness Center.
 
Last Time Out
Harvard women's tennis wrapped up its fall schedule with its own Harvard Invitational from Nov. 4-6. The round robin tournament included Boston University, Pittsburgh and Syracuse. Freshman Lexi Milunovich defeated all three opponents in singles play, including a 6-3, 6-4 win over Pitt's Audrey Ann Blakely. 
 
Scouting Harvard
Harvard saw action at five tournaments this past fall, including the Hall of Fame Grass Court Invitational and the ITA Regional Championships. Freshmen standouts, Natasha Gonzalez and Lexi Milunovich, hold 7-6 and 5-0 records, respectively. In doubles action, June Lee and Erica Oosterhout registered six wins throughout the fall season, while Gonzalez and Irene Lu hold a 4-1 mark.
 
Scouting Northwestern
The Wildcats registered a 14-11 record at the conclusion of its 2015-16 season, including a 10-1 count in the Big Ten Conference. Northwestern opened their spring season hosting Akron and Chicago State on Jan. 14, sweeping both squads with a pair of 7-0 marks.
 
Harvard trails Northwestern 1-11 in the all-time series, with the last meeting on Jan. 29, 2011.
 
Scouting DePaul
The Blue Demons finished their 2015 campaign with a 14-8 record, including an undefeated 6-0 record in the Big East Conference. DePaul opened their spring season at the Michigan Invitational falling 5-2 against Arizona State, despite winning all three doubles matchups. Harvard defeated DePaul 4-2 in its only meeting, Jan. 25, 2015
 
Back in Crimson
Sophomores Isabel Jasper, Erica Oosterhout, and Sabrina Xiong, junior Annika Ringblom, and senior June Lee return from the 2015-16 squad that went 12-11 overall. Xiong enters the season after posting a 14-10 overall record, with 3-4 in conference play. Xiong was also recognized as a Scholar-Athlete by the ITA.
 
Fresh Faces
The Harvard women's tennis team has seven new members for the 2016-17 season: Nika Besker, Jenna Friedel, Natasha Gonzalez, Irene Lu, Lexi Milunovich, Kaelli Thiel and Angelina Ye. The group of seven joins the Crimson from five states and Croatia.
 
On the Sidelines
The head coach for Harvard women's tennis is Traci Green. Green enters her tenth season in 2016-17. Green is just the eighth person to serve as Harvard's women's tennis coach and has assisted the Crimson to 92 wins, including Harvard's 18th Ivy League Title in 2009.
 
Green is joined by assistant coach Andrew Laing and volunteer assistant coach Debbie Goldfine.
 
Aye, Aye Captain
Senior June Lee was chosen to be the team's captain for the 2016-17 academic year. Lee is the 54th captain in program history.
