Freshman 2015-16
Qualified for the 2016 U.S. Olympic Trials ... Qualified for the NCAA Championships in the 200 fly … Earned four All-Ivy League honors, first team in the 400 IM and 200 fly, and second team in the 200 IM and 800 free relay … Won the 100 back (55.47), 100 fly (55.06) and 200 meter (2:00.58) against Cornell and Dartmouth …  Set a Uris Pool record for the 200 fly at Columbia with a win in 2.00.01, and won the 200 back (2:00.79) and the 400 IM (4:16.98) at Columbia … Earned fifth in the 200 IM (1:59.22), seventh in the 200 fly (1:58.01) and 22nd in the 400 IM (4:24.59) at the Texas Invitational … Won the 200 butterfly (1:59.96) and placed second in the 200 free (1:51.15) and 200 breast (2:20.42) against Brown and Penn …  Won the 200 fly (1:57.02) and the 400 IM (4:11.42) at the Ivy League Championship Meet.

A strong competitor from Upland, California, Sonia Wang finished second and third at Short Course Nationals (400 IM/200 fly), and she was a 2012 and 2016 Olympic Trials qualifier (100 fly, 200 fly, 200 IM, 400 IM). Wang holds the CIF Southern Section Division 1 and Division 2 record  for both the 100 back and 200 IM, as well. Out of the pool, Wang is a three-time Scholastic All-American and an AP Scholar, whose hobbies include cooking, traveling and kayaking. Her sister, Oriana, also attends Harvard.

"I chose Harvard because I believe that it is the best fit for me in and out of the pool," Wang said. "The camaraderie between the swimmers create a positive and motivating environment and I really felt at home."
