Otto placed sixth in the 400 IM and eighth in the 200 fly (Gil Talbot).
INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Rising sophomore Courtney Otto continued to impress at the national level last week as she advanced to the finals of both the 200 fly and 400 IM at the 2012 U.S. Open Swimming Championships.
She began the competition in the 200 fly and earned a spot in the championship finals with an eighth-place showing in the prelims, posting a time of 2:13.10. Otto also took eighth in the finals, clocking in at 2:14.00.
Otto returned to the pool in the 400 IM where she placed ninth in the prelims in 4:50.51 to reach the finals. She then turned in a personal best time of 4:46.33 in the finals to touch the wall in sixth place.
Otto competed at the 2012 Olympic Team Trials earlier this summer and took ninth in the 200 fly, 22nd in the 200 IM and 28th in the 400 IM. She earned four All-Ivy League nods at the 2012 Ivy League Championships, winning the 400 IM and 800 free relay for first team honors while taking second in the 200 fly and 500 free for second team plaudits.
