Mehta, Kennedy Earn Spots in CSA Individual Championship Finals

Freshman Gina Kennedy will contend for the Ramsay Cup final tomorrow at 1:30 p.m. (Gil Talbot).

– The Harvard men's and women's squash teams had a combined six student-athletes compete on the second day of the CSA Individual Championships at Dartmouth Saturday. Three of the six won their first match of the day, and freshman Gina Kennedy and junior Alyssa Mehta made it through to the championship match in their respective brackets.

Kennedy defeated Lucy Beecroft of Yale by a 3-0 margin to advance to the semifinals of the Ramsay Cup. Kennedy then rolled through Penn's Marie Stephan with a 3-0 win to earn a spot in the Ramsay Cup final against Penn's Reeham Sedky at 1:30 p.m.

Mehta opened the day by defeating her teammate Eleonore Evans, 3-0, in the quarterfinals of the Holleran South bracket. Mehta went on to sweep Princeton's Gabrielle Garr to clinch a championship match against Zandra Ho of Stanford at 11:15 a.m.

Sophomore Kayley Leonard opened the day with a 3-1 win over Princeton's Olivia Fiechter in the quarterfinal round. Leonard then fell to Sedky in the semis.

Junior Sue Ann Yong and Evans fell in their quarterfinal bouts. Yong was defeated 3-1 by Colette Sultana of Columbia after taking the first game in the match, while Evans fell to Mehta by a 3-0 margin.

For the men, freshman Saadeldin Abouaish fell in the quarterfinals to Ahmed Bayoumy of St. Lawrence to end his run for the Pool Trophy.
