No. 1 Women’s Squash Defeats No. 18 Tufts, 9-0

Senior Keegan Mendez earned her third victory of the year with a 3-0 win at No. 8 against No. 18 Tufts (Gil Talbot).

– The No. 1 Harvard women's squash team won its sixth-straight match with a 9-0 victory over visiting No. 18 Tufts on Friday evening. The Crimson didn't lose a single game to the Jumbos, earning its third clean sweep of the season.

Harvard (6-0, 3-0 Ivy) dominated from the start, handing Tufts (12-1) its first loss of the season. The Crimson notched its fourth nine-match sweep against an opponent this year.

Seniors Dileas MacGowan and Caroline Monrad, along with junior Alyssa Mehta and sophomore Sophie Mehta, all moved to 6-0 this season with wins in their respective matches.

Seniors Katherine Tutrone and Keegan Mendez both remained unbeaten as well, taking home wins at No. 2 and No. 8, respectively. Tutrone tallied her fifth win, while Mendez recorded her third. Junior Sue Ann Yong also moved to 5-0 on the year, collecting a 3-0 win at No. 3.

Freshmen Eleonore Evans and Annika Engstrom won their matches against Tufts as well, as Evans moved to 5-1 and Engstrom advanced to 2-0.

Harvard women's squash will return to action Feb. 4-5 when it hosts Ivy League foes Columbia and Cornell at the Murr Center Squash Courts. Both matches are slated for a noon start.
