No. 1 Women’s Squash Powers Past No. 2 Penn, 7-2

Senior Katherine Tutrone battled for a 3-2 win at the No. 6 position against No. 2 Penn on Saturday (Gil Talbot).

– The No. 1 Harvard women's squash team handed No. 2 Penn a 7-2 defeat at Ringe Courts on Saturday afternoon.

The Crimson (3-0, 2-0 Ivy) earned victories from the No. 3-9 positions, wearing down the Quakers (2-1, 0-1 Ivy) throughout the match.

Harvard swept two matches against Penn after recording clean sweeps over its first two opponents of the season. Sophomore Sophie Mehta and freshman Eleonore Evans picked up 3-0 decisions from the No. 8-9 spots, respectively.

Sophomore Kayley Leonard impressed her first action of the year, taking home a 3-1 win at No. 3, while juniors Alyssa Mehta and Sue Ann Yong moved to 3-0 on the year with a wins at No. 5 and No. 7.

Freshman Amelia Henley and senior Katherine Tutrone both battled to 3-2 wins over their opponents. Henley won 11-6 in the final game of the match at No. 4, and Tutrone dominated in the finale at No. 7 with an 11-3 victory.

The Crimson will be back in action in an Ivy League road contest against No. 4 Princeton tomorrow at noon.
