No. 1 Women's Squash Runs Winning Streak to Twelve

ITHACA, N.Y. – The No. 1 Harvard women's squash team swept its second consecutive match and ran its season opening win streak to 12 with a 9-0 win over No. 7 Cornell Sunday afternoon. With the win, the Crimson guaranteed itself a showdown with Yale for at least a share of the Ivy League title Feb. 12.

The Crimson registered the clean sheet with ease, as all nine starts won in less than five games. Harvard ran its all-time record against the Big Red to 18-0, including sweeps in each of the last four seasons.

Amanda Sobhy won in the No. 1 spot, her fifth win in as many tries to start her collegiate career and Laura Gemmell and Nirasha Guruge won in positions No. 2 and No. 3, respectively.

The last four Crimson players in the lineup won by 3-0 tallies. Cece Cortes won at No. 6, while Sarah Mumanachit, Julianne Chu and Megan Murray rounded out the lineup.

Haley Mendez won her team-high 11th match of the season at No. 4.

Harvard battles No. 10 Brown Feb. 10 and takes on No. 2 Yale Feb. 12.
