Etzel Named United Soccer Coaches National Player of the Week

Etzel made 16 saves in a 0-0 deadlock at Columbia (Gil Talbot).

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – A few days removed from one of the top goalkeeper outings in the country this season, junior Danielle Etzel has been named the National Player of the Week by United Soccer Coaches, as announced by the organization on Tuesday.

Etzel made a career-best 16 saves in a 0-0 (2OT) draw with Columbia, making a handful of tremendous saves to earn her second solo shutout of the season, and Harvard's sixth total. Her 16 saves were the fifth-most in the country this season, and the third-most in a shutout effort. The performance comes on the heels of a 13-save outing at Dartmouth.

The performance allowed Harvard to remain unbeaten over the last 10 meetings with Columbia, who was tied for first in the league entering Saturday's contest. The Crimson ended the season at 8-8-1 overall, securing its 11th-straight season with a .500 or better record.
