CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Three members of the Harvard women's soccer team earned All-New England honors, as announced Dec. 12 by the New England Women's Intercollegiate Soccer Association (NEWISA). Senior Marie Margolius, sophomore Margaret Purce and were named to the All-New England First Team, while senior Meg Casscells-Hamby earned Second Team honors.
Margolius, a senior co-captain along with Casscells-Hamby, earned All-New England accolades for the second straight season. The Acton, Massachusetts, native was a crucial component in the Crimson's back line rotation, starting 16 games for Harvard in 2014.
Purce once again led the Crimson on the attack, racking up 11 goals and four assists in 18 games played. The Olney, Maryland, native sent in a pair of game winners on the year and compiled five multi-point outings for Harvard as a sophomore.
Casscells-Hamby was a lynchpin for the Harvard midfield throughout the season, despite missing two games in the middle. Hailing from Winter Park, Florida, Casscells-Hamby – who earned her second consecutive nod to All-New England teams – compiled a team high (tied) four assists, while adding three goals, two of which were game winners, to cap off her senior campaign.
