CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The 2014 Ivy League champion Harvard women's soccer team has advanced to its 15th NCAA tournament in program history and will host the first round for the ninth time as the Crimson (10-4-2, 5-1-1 Ivy) welcomes in Central Connecticut State (11-5-4, 4-2-2 NEC) at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 15 at Soldiers Field Soccer Stadium.
This marks the fifth NCAA appearance for head coach Ray Leone after Harvard repeated as Ancient Eight champions in 2014. The Crimson claimed its 12th overall Ivy title on Saturday in a 2-1 triumph over Columbia to move to 5-1-1 in conference play. Central Connecticut State is coming off its eighth conference title in program history with a 2-0 victory over Fairleigh Dickinson.
Harvard is 6-2-1 all-time versus CCSU, including a 2-0 victory during the regular season last year. The two squads have met once in the NCAA tournament already, that coming on Nov. 11, 1998 in a 4-1 Crimson victory.
The winner of Saturday's first round matchup will advance to take on defending national champion UCLA, which currently owns a 42-game unbeaten streak, or San Diego in the second round on Nov. 21.
