CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The Harvard women's soccer team is in its second week of preseason practice, as the Crimson prepares for its season opener against Long Island Sept. 3.
Harvard will open the 2010 campaign by hosting LIU at the new Soldiers Field Soccer Stadium Friday, Sept. 3 at 7 p.m. The Crimson will then visit New Hampshire Sept. 5, before traveling to Florida for games at Central Florida and South Florida Sept. 10-12, respectively.Under the tutelage of Ray Leone, who is entering his fourth season as the head coach for Harvard women's soccer, the Crimson returns 20 players from last year's squad, which won its second straight Ivy League title.
Harvard has reached the NCAA tournament in each of the last two seasons and will open the Ancient Eight portion of its 2010 schedule on the road at Penn Sept. 24.
