CAMBRIDGE, Mass.- With the 2019 season just a few weeks away, Harvard women's rugby has announced it will be hosting the 2019 NIRA national championships. All three national games will take place Sunday, November, 17.
In the past, there was a four-team playoff weekend which held the semifinals and final. This year, the semifinals for each division will be played November 9-10, at the home field of the higher seed. The finals will then be played the following weekend.
"Harvard University is honored to be hosting the fifth NIRA national championship tournament," said Denham. "Our world class facility and resources will serve as an excellent venue to showcase the highest level of intercollegiate rugby competition, provide an outstanding championship experience for the student-athletes and deliver a top-quality display of NCAA varsity rugby."
This bid comes after a successful season for the Crimson, which appeared in its first 15s national championship, won two Ivy titles and a bronze medal at 7s nationals.
Harvard returns a veteran group and adds a talented core of eight first-years that are expected to contribute to the team.
Harvard opens up its season on August 31 at Quinnipiac. The Crimson will then host Dartmouth in its home opener on September 21.
Schedule of Games:
