GLENDALE, Colo. – Competing at the USA Rugby 7s College National Championships for the first time in program history, Harvard women's rugby wrapped up day one of the event after contests against Life, Army and Davenport.

Harvard opened the tournament against Life, falling 28-5. Sophomore Delia Hellander scored the Harvard try to cut into an early deficit, but Life pulled away late for the win. The Crimson next faced Army West Point, but fell 29-0.

The Crimson battled Davenport in a tight contest to close the opening day, but ultimately fell in the match, 24-19. Davenport hopped out to a 7-0 lead, but Harvard responded with tries from junior Genevieve Quirion and Hellander, and a conversion from freshman Milan Roberts to take a 12-7 lead. Facing another deficit later in the game, Harvard regained the advantage, 19-17, following a try and conversion from Roberts. Davenport rallied for a score of its own late in the game to take the victory.

Harvard opens action in the Bowl semifinals on Sunday, May 20, with the action getting underway at 11:20 a.m. local time. The entire day's action will be broadcast by the Rugby Channel.
