Rugby Ends Regular Season at West Point All-Academy 7s

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The Harvard rugby team went 1-2 at the West Point All-Academy Sevens Tournament on Saturday. Juniors Jenny Kronish and Sarah Lipson, as well as freshman Arianna Romero each scored two tries for the Crimson (16-6) at Anderson Rugby Complex. Sophomore Delia Hellander, freshman Milan Roberts, and junior Susie Clements also contributed to Harvard's score sheet. The Crimson fell in the opening contest to Army, 43-7, before shutting out Mount Saint Mary's, 39-0. Harvard then dropped a 24-7 decision to Dartmouth in a semifinal contest.

Army (Pool Play)
Army scored the opening try and converted, but Harvard answered right back with a try from Delia Hellander and conversion from Milan Roberts. The Black Knights regained the lead off a penalty kick and controlled play until the final whistle, 43-7.

Mount Saint Mary's (Pool Play)
Sarah Lipson got things rolling for the Crimson with a pair of early tries. Arianna Romero built upon the lead when she picked up MSM's ball and touched down, 15-0. Jenny Kronish added five more points after receiving an offload pass from Maya Learned and scoring on the outside. Roberts pushed the score to 27-0 at the half by stealing the ball, scoring a try at center, and converting. After the break, Kronish delivered her second try of the day on a similar play. Harvard converted the kick and Susie Clements added the final points in a 39-0 victory shortly after.

Dartmouth (Semifinal)
The Big Green got on the board first and was able to build a 19-0 lead at the intermission. Dartmouth added another try, before Romero tallied Harvard's only try of the match and Clements converted prior to the conclusion of the match, 24-7.

What's Next?
Harvard awaits the bid announcements for the USA Rugby Collegiate Sevens Championship. The tournament will be hosted on Saturday, May 19, in Glendale, Colo.
