  • Women’s Rugby & Soccer Alumna Cheta Emba ’15 Selected to the Women’s Rugby World Cup

    Former Harvard women's rugby and soccer player Cheta Emba '15 has been selected to represent the United States women's rugby team at the 2018 Women's Rugby Sevens World Cup, as announced on Thursday. Emba is one of 12 athletes selected to the roster, with competition running July 20-22 in San Francisco.
  • Denham, Three Players Represent Women’s Rugby at Collegiate All-American 15s Camp

    Earning an invitation to the Collegiate All-American 15s camp, rising senior Jenny Kronish and recent graduates Haley Langan and Maya Learned will compete June 19-25 in Hanover, New Hampshire. Additionally, head coach Mel Denham was selected to be on the coaching staff for the event.
  • Women’s Rugby Falls in Bowl Final at USA Rugby 7s Championship

    The Harvard women’s rugby team defeated Ivy League rival Dartmouth, 26-24, in the Bowl Semifinal before falling to Central Washington, 34-12, in the Bowl Final of the 2018 USA Rugby 7s Championship on Sunday. Freshman Milan Roberts led the Crimson in scoring with 21 points, while sophomore Delia Hellander contributed 12 points (2 t, 1c) and senior Haley Langan accounted for five. Harvard went 1-4 at the Division I national championship tournament and finished sixth in the nation.

  • Women's Rugby Gears Up for First USA Rugby 7s Collegiate Championship Appearance

    The Harvard women’s rugby team will have to go through three current or former national champions in its quest for a national title at the 2018 USA Rugby Sevens National Championship this weekend in Glendale, Colo. The Crimson (16-6) drew 2016 USA Rugby 7s victor, Life University for its opening bout and will go on to face rival, 2016 NIRA 7s champion Army, before meeting reigning USA Rugby 15s Fall champion Davenport on opening day. Harvard competes for the Women’s Division I title beginning on Saturday, May 19. Infinity Park will host the top men’s and women’s collegiate programs for three days, with champions being crowned across four divisions.
  • Women's Rugby Receives Bid, Will Compete for Sevens National Title

    CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The Harvard rugby team has received an at-large bid to compete for the 2018 USA Rugby Women’s 7s National Championship. This is the first time as a varsity program that the Crimson will compete at the USA Rugby Sevens National Championship. The women’s side of the tournament kicks-off on Saturday, May 19 at Infinity Park in Glendale, Colo. The tournament will be broadcast on therugbychannel.tv.
  • Rugby Ends Regular Season at West Point All-Academy 7s

    The Harvard rugby team went 1-2 at the West Point All-Academy Sevens Tournament on Saturday. Juniors Jenny Kronish and Sarah Lipson, as well as freshman Arianna Romero each scored two tries for the Crimson (16-6) at Anderson Rugby Complex. Sophomore Delia Hellander, freshman Milan Roberts, and first-year Susie Clements also contributed to Harvard's score sheet. The Crimson fell in the opening contest to Army, 43-7, before shutting out Mount Saint Mary’s, 39-0. Harvard then dropped a 24-7 decision to Dartmouth in a semifinal contest.
  • Rugby Enlisted at West Point All-Academy 7s This Weekend

    The Harvard rugby team travels to compete at the West Point All-Academy 7s Tournament this weekend. The Crimson (15-4) are one of five teams entering the challenge hosted by Army at Anderson Rugby Complex. Harvard has met the Black Knights in two tournament championships this season.
  • Learned in Discussion for Rugby’s Top Honor, Named Sorensen Award Finalist

    Harvard senior captain Maya Learned has been listed among the finalists for the 2018 Sorensen Award. The accolade sponsored by the Washington Athletic Club of Seattle recognizes the top collegiate women’s rugby player. Learned was included in this year’s finalists after voting from coaches and fans throughout the country counted the prop among the best players in the nation.
  • Women’s Rugby Reaches Championship Game of Bowdoin Polar Bears 7s

    Competing for an automatic berth to the national championships, Harvard women’s rugby fell on the final play of the championship game to Army West Point to come in second place at the Bowdoin Polar Bear 7s.
  • Rugby Seeks Nationals Qualifier at Bowdoin Sevens

    At stake this weekend at the Polar Bear Sevens Tournament for the Harvard rugby team is a golden ticket to the USA Rugby Sevens Collegiate National Championship on May 19. The Crimson (12-3) can clinch a spot in the national tournament by winning the tournament being hosted by Bowdoin College on Saturday, April 21 at Packard Rugby Fields. Harvard’s first contest is slated for 10:40 a.m.against Army on Field Two.
  • Rugby Takes Second at Ivy League Sevens Championship

    The Harvard rugby team reached the finals of the Ivy League championship for the third straight year, but fell to Dartmouth, 29-0, in its quest for a third straight Ancient Eight crown. The Crimson (12-3) cruised through group play and the league semifinal, outscoring foes 174-14.
  • Rugby, Two-Time Defending Ivy League Champion Going for Three-Peat on Saturday

    Two-time defending Ivy League Sevens champion Harvard women's rugby team seeks a third consecutive Ancient Eight crown on Saturday, April 14. Princeton will host this year’s Ivy sevens tournament at West Windsor Fields. Harvard (8-2) has been placed in Pool A and will take on Cornell, Columbia, and Brown in group play. The Crimson’s first match is set for 9:30 a.m. against the Big Red. 
  • Rugby Takes Third at Brown Sevens

    The Harvard rugby team took third place at the 2018 Brown Sevens Tournament on Sunday, defeating American International, Sacred Heart, West Chester, and Norwich. Sophomore Delia Hellander led the Crimson (8-2) to a 4-1 showing on the day with 42 points behind six tries and six conversions. For the second straight tournament, Dominique Cantave scored at least three tries, touching down thrice on Berylson Family Fields.
  • Rugby Engages AIC, Sacred Heart on Sunday at Brown Sevens

    The Harvard women's rugby sevens team contests the Brown 7s Tournament on Sunday, April 8. Twelve schools have entered the draw and will compete across five pools beginning at 11:20 a.m. on Marvel Field. Harvard’s (4-1) first opponent will be American International (4-1) at 12:40 p.m. on field two. The Crimson’s second match of pool play will be against Sacred Heart (2-2) at approximately 1:40 p.m. on the same gridiron.

  • Ivy League Enhances Exposure, Fan Experience with Long-Term ESPN Agreement

    The Ivy League and ESPN have agreed to a long-term relationship to showcase Ivy League events through a variety of ESPN platforms, including at least 24 events annually on ESPN’s linear networks and more than 1,100 annually on ESPN+. This will include coverage for all 42 Harvard varsity programs.
  • U.S. Rugby Hall of Fame to Induct Alex Williams `91

    Harvard graduate Alex Williams ’91 is among seven players, coaches, and major influencers on rugby in the United States that the U.S. Rugby Foundation announced as its Hall of Fame Class of 2018. Williams will become the fifth individual woman to be inducted into the U.S. Rugby Hall of Fame. The honorees will be officially instated at a ceremony to be held in Houston on Friday, June 15.
  • Crimson 7s Final Pits Women's Rugby Versus Army

    The Harvard women’s rugby team opened its sevens season by storming through pool play and into its fourth Crimson 7s Tournament championship appearance on Saturday. The Crimson handed NIRA 15s national champion Quinnipiac a commanding 48-0 loss in the semifinal, before being upset by Army, 34-10, in the championship match on Roberto A. Mignone Field. Junior Sarah Lipson led the Crimson (4-1) with seven tries (35 points), while freshman Milan Roberts amassed a team-leading 46 points on six tries and eight conversions.

  • Women's Rugby Opens Sevens Season as Host of Crimson 7s Tournament

    The Harvard women's rugby sevens season will begin with the Fourth Annual Crimson 7s Tournament on Saturday, March 24. Roberto A. Mignone Field will host 27 matches as 12 teams are set to compete across three pools for the right to move on to the cup and plate championship brackets. The opening match between Army and West Chester is slated for 9 a.m. Harvard will kick-off against Molloy at 9:20 a.m. Streaming is available on the Ivy League Network.
  • Women's Rugby Tallies Six Academic All-Ivy Selections

    Continuing to add accolades after a strong fall season, Harvard women's rugby had six student-athletes selected as Academic All-Ivy honorees, as announced by the Ivy Rugby Conference: juniors Grace Chao and Akweley Okine and sophomores Brooklynn Davis, Sarah Lipson, Ana Suazo and Victoria Tong.

    The National Intercollegiate Rugby Association announced All-America selections Tuesday afternoon with five members of Harvard women's rugby earning recognition. Senior captain Maya Learned, juniors Caitlin Weigel and Jenny Kronish and freshman Milan Roberts earned All-America status, with senior Haley Langan named an All-America honorable mention.

    CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The No. 5 Harvard women’s rugby team is gearing up for the first round of the NIRA Tournament, and will face No. 5 Army at the Anderson Rugby Complex this Saturday, Nov. 11 at 6 p.m. The two teams have met once already this season in September, with both teams earning a 33-33 tie.
  • No. 4 Women's Rugby Falls to Dartmouth in Ivy Championship

    CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - The No. 4 Harvard women's rugby team was unable to mount a comeback in the Ivy Championship, and fell to No. 2 Dartmouth, 22-8. Three points from junior Jenny Kronish and a try from freshman Erin Wright highlighted the Crimson's performance.
