Senior Claire Collins totaled a career-high four tries against the Nor'easters (Gil Talbot).
BIDDEFORD, Maine – The Harvard women's rugby team improved to 2-0 on the season with a 54-0 victory over the University of New England. The Crimson was led by senior Claire Collins with a career-high four tries in the match.
The Crimson led wire-to-wire against the Nor'easters, marking the second consecutive contest it has led throughout. The defense stifled New England from the opening whistle as Harvard has now held its opponents scoreless in three consecutive periods including the second half against Navy.
Sophomore Akweley Okine started the attack for the Crimson, scoring the first try of the contest. Collins then rattled for three consecutive scores for the natural hat trick, giving Harvard a 22-0 advantage. She added another score late in the second half for four total tries.
Sophomore Jenny Kronish, along with freshmen Delia Hellander and Emily Prentice scored for the Crimson in the second half. Okine then recorded her second try of the game and sophomore Caitlin Weigel capped off the scoring for Harvard with a try of her own.
Harvard women's rugby will return to the pitch when it returns to Cambridge to host Brown in Ivy League action on Friday, September 23 at 7:30 p.m.
