Women’s Rugby Set for Brown 7s Sunday

– Harvard women's rugby is set for the Brown 7s Tournament this weekend in Providence, Rhode Island. The Crimson is off to a hot start this season, winning seven of its opening nine games.

Last Time Out
Harvard women's rugby finished 3-1 at the AIC 7s Tournament last Sunday, earning three-straight victories before falling to Quinnipiac, 39-0, in the semifinal round. The Crimson defeated Norwich 'A', Boston and West Chester with a strong defensive effort, allowing just 12 points total over the three-game stretch.

Strong Start
The Crimson is 7-2 to being the 7s spring season, matching its 2016 record through the opening nine contests. Harvard has defeated six different teams, including two victories over West Chester, while falling to Quinnipiac twice for its only losses on the year.

Shutouts Galore
Harvard has proven it can have a dominant defensive presence, posting five shutouts so far on the year. The Crimson has only allowed double-digit scoring totals to Quinnipiac this season in two different games, giving up a total of 12 points over the other seven matches. 

Flying Freshman
Freshman Delia Hellander was instrumental in Harvard's success at the AIC 7s last weekend. Hellander notched tries in multiple game throughout the day, including scoring both tries for the Crimson in a 10-5 win over BU.

All-American Leaders
Senior Claire Collins and sophomore Caitlin Weigel, both named NIRA All-Americans in the fall, have helped lead the Crimson throughout the spring. Both were among the offensive leaders for Harvard each of the last two tournaments.
