CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Harvard wrestling earned a 28-17 home victory over Franklin & Marshall Saturday night inside Malkin Athletic Center. The Crimson improved to 1-3 on the season and moved to 1-1 in the EIWA. The Diplomats, meanwhile, fell to 2-3 (0-2 EIWA).
The top of the Crimson lineup set the tone early with a pair of convincing victories. Nolan Hellickson, wrestling at 125 pounds, won by technical fall, 15-0, at the 6:11 mark and was followed by Lukus Stricker's 8-0 major decision over 133-pounder Mike Simonetti.
Harvard suffered a minor setback at 141, but answered with five consecutive wins, including four by major decision. Brock Wilson (149 pounds) pocketed 15-3 major decision over Chris Martorello and Hunter Ladnier duplicated Stricker's effort at 157 pounds.
Tyler Tarsi followed the two major decisions with an 8-3 decision over Crew Fullerton at 165 pounds. Leo Tarantino (174) and Cliffton Wang (184), meanwhile, put the finishing touches on the successful run with another pair of major decisions, 17-3 and 10-1, respectively.
- Tarantino, who earlier in the day recorded a win vs. Bucknell, went 2-0 for the day and is now 3-1 in dual matches.
- Five of Harvard's seven wins were by major decision.
- Ladnier earned his team-leading fourth major decision of 2018-19.
- Harvard won its 10th straight match vs. Franklin & Marshall.
