Freshman Jennifer VanderMeulen has been named a 2010 third-team All-America and All-Rookie selection by WomensLacrosse.com.
VanderMeulen has raked in several conference, regional and national awards during her first season with the Crimson. She was a first-team All-North region pick by the IWLCA last week, after earning a unanimous selection as Ivy League Rookie of the Year and first-team All-Ivy League honors as an attacker.
She led the league and ranked third in the nation in goals per game with 3.73. She scored 56 goals to go along with eight assists and to rank 16th in the nation in points per game with 4.27.
VanderMeulen’s 56 goals are the most by a freshman at Harvard, the fifth highest total in Harvard history and the most goals scored by a Crimson player since 1981. It’s also the first time a Harvard player has scored more than 50 goals in a season since 1992.
