ALBANY, N.Y. – After a banner week for Harvard women's ice hockey, Dominique Petrie and Becky Dutton have been named ECAC Hockey's Player and Goalie of the week, respectively, as announced by the league today (Jan. 6). The pair contributed to three Crimson victories, a 10-4-0 overall record and a 9-0-0 conference mark to open the new year.
Petrie began her week at No. 9/9 Boston College, tallying two goals and an assist in the Crimson's 7-1 win over the Eagles, it's second victory over a top-10 team this season. On Friday against Union, the sophomore lit up the scoreboard with five points that included a short-handed score and her first career hat trick. The five-point outing was the first for a Harvard player since the 2012-13 season. Then, on Saturday against Rensselaer, she recorded an additional goal and assist to cap her weekly point total at 10. Petrie has put up 24 points this season, 10 of which happened this week. She led the nation in scoring for the week of Dec. 30-Jan. 4 and now ranks top-10 in the country in points and assists per game.
Becky Dutton made her season debut in fine fashion on Saturday against Rensselaer. The junior posted 21 saves and earned her first career shutout to preserve Harvard's unblemished ECAC Hockey record. Dutton helped the Crimson to a 9-0-0 conference record and propelled the team to the top of the ECAC Hockey standings.
Harvard is currently on a five-game win streak and returns to action at the Bright-Landry Hockey Center this weekend to take on Quinnipiac and No. 7/7 Princeton. Puck drops at 6 p.m. on Friday against the Bobcats and 3 p.m. on Saturday versus the Tigers. Saturday's game will also be broadcast live on NESN.
