Lexie Laing selected by the Boston Pride in the 2017 NWHL Draft

BROOKLYN, N.Y. – Rising senior Lexie Laing was selected 12th overall in the third round of the 2017 National Women's Hockey League (NWHL) Draft Thursday evening. Laing will join her sisters Denna and Brianna in the Boston Pride organization following the completion of her senior season at Harvard. Laing becomes the fifth player in program history to be drafted into the NWHL.

Laing returns to the lineup as the Crimson's leading scorer from 2016-17 (21 pts.) and will dawn the captain's "C" on her uniform during the 2017-18 campaign alongside teammates Kate Hallett and Haley Mullins

"Lexie has earned everything she gets" said The Landry Family Head Coach for Harvard Women's Hockey, Katey Stone. "She will be a tremendous asset to the Pride, as she has been to Harvard Hockey. We are thrilled for her!"

"I love to play the game so it's very exciting to help continue the growth of women's hockey" remarked Laing. "I look forward to playing professionally in the NWHL after my college career like my sisters Denna and Brianna have."

Three years and counting, Laing has appeared in 96 games for the Crimson, amassing 64 points on 24 goals and 40 assists including a team high 13 helpers during the 2016-17 season. Laing has also been a perennial ECAC Hockey All-Academic Team selection.
Last season, seven former Crimson skaters competed in the NWHL or CWHL, including two on the Boston Pride. Earlier this summer, recent graduates Sydney Daniels and Lexie Laing's sister Brianna signed with the Pride. Boston led the NWHL last season with a 16-1 record, falling to the Buffalo Beauts in the Isobel Cup finals.
