Women’s Hockey Makes Sandwiches for Boston Marathon Volunteers

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Volunteering to support the Boston Marathon volunteers, Harvard women's hockey paired with Viga Italian Eatery to make sandwiches for the thousands of volunteers at Boston's premiere running event.

The 121st Boston Marathon is expected to draw more than 30,000 athletes, which creates a need for a plethora of volunteers. Excited to help the cause, the women's hockey program churned out thousands of sandwiches for the helpers throughout the day on Sunday. The community service program surrounding the marathon has become a yearly tradition.

"It was a great night for Harvard Hockey making 3,500 sandwiches at Viga Eatery for the Boston Marathon volunteers," said Katey Stone, the Landry Family Head Coach for Harvard Women's Hockey. "The kids rocked it!"

One of many Crimson programs involved in the community, this was the third year that Harvard women's hockey participated in the effort. The marathon begins Monday morning at 8:50 a.m.

"Boston Strong!"
