Daniels, Mastel Earn All-Ivy Recognition

PRINCETON, N.J. – Capping terrific careers for a pair of senior captains, Sydney Daniels and Briana Mastel have been named to the All-Ivy League second team, as announced by the conference office on Friday. The All-Ivy honor is the third in a row for Daniels, while Mastel earned her first postseason honor.

Daniels tallied a team-high 11 goals to go with five assists in 2016-17, and scored seven goals in Ivy play, which ranked second overall. One of the most explosive goal scorers in program history, Daniels finished her Crimson career in 15th on the all-time goals list with 59, while tallying 87 points overall. Daniels was a first-team All-Ivy honoree last season and an honorable mention selection as a sophomore. She was also named to the All-ECAC Hockey second team in 2015-16.

Mastel tallied a career-best 15 points in 2016-17, and ranked second on the team with 13 assists. Showcasing her versatility this season, Mastel led the Ivy League with eight assists in Ivy action while also scoring one goal. Mastel totaled 40 points in her Crimson career, including 33 helpers, and posted five multi-point outings in a Harvard jersey. Mastel was previously an ECAC Hockey All-Rookie selection in 2013-14.

The All-Ivy honors add to a long list of accolades for Daniels and Mastel in their careers, which include a Beanpot championship, two NCAA Tournaments and one Frozen Four in addition to capturing the Ivy title twice.
