Women’s Hockey Picked Fifth in ECAC Hockey Preseason Poll

Harvard finished fifth in the conference standings a year ago (Gil Talbot).

ALBANY, N.Y. – With the opening games of the season less than a month away, Harvard women's hockey was slotted fifth in the preseason ECAC Hockey coaches' poll, as announced by the league office on Tuesday.

Quinnipiac was picked first in the poll with 114 points, ahead of second-place Clarkson (109) and Princeton (102) by a slim margin. All three schools received first-place votes.

Colgate was picked fourth with 96 points, and Harvard checked in at fifth with 74 points. The top five teams in the poll were slotted in the same order as the final conference standings a year ago.

Harvard women's hockey is coming off a 17-12-3 season, and a 12-7-3 mark in conference play. The Crimson returns 64 percent of its scoring from a year ago, and opens the 2016-17 campaign with an exhibition vs. McGill Oct. 14.
