Women’s Hockey Falls In Beanpot Semifinals to No. 1/1 Boston College

BOSTON – Opening the 2016 Beanpot at Walter Brown Arena, Harvard women's hockey could not overcome an early deficit to No. 1/1 Boston College as it fell to the Eagles, 8-0.

Junior Brianna Laing tied a season-high with 26 saves over 40 minutes, and senior Emerance Maschmeyer tallied 14 saves. Harvard (12-9-1) fired 12 shots on goal in the contest, led by three from junior Sydney Daniels.

The Eagles (28-0-0) netted five goals in the opening period, led by two from Tori Sullivan. Kaliya Johnson, Megan Keller and Alex Carpenter also recorded goals in the frame.

Boston College added a pair of scores in the second period off the sticks of Keller and Lexi Bender. The Crimson defense held the Eagles' attack scoreless over the final 11:40 of the period. Carpenter added a third goal midway through the third period.

Harvard hosts Brown and Yale Feb. 5-6 at the Bright-Landry Hockey Center. Saturday's contest with Yale is Senior Day, and both contests will be broadcast on ONE World Sports and the Ivy League Digital Network.
