Heffernan Selected to Canada National Women’s Development Team for Nations Cup

Team Canada opens with Sweden on Monday, Jan. 4 (Zack Williamson).

FUSSEN, Germany – Sophomore forward Karly Heffernan has been selected to the Canada National Women's Development Team for the Nations Cup Jan. 4-7, as announced by Hockey Canada ahead of the tournament.

The inclusion marks Heffernan's second appearance with the National Women's Development Team this year after she skated with the squad in the three-game series with USA's U-22 squad in August. Canada is the event's defending champion, and will take on Sweden Monday, Jan. 4, and Russia Tuesday, Jan. 5. The gold- and bronze-medal games will take place on Thursday, Jan. 7.

Heffernan has helped power Harvard to an 8-4-2 start in 2015-16, including a 5-3-1 mark in ECAC Hockey action. The Sherwood Park, Alberta native is second on the team with 10 points and eight assists, and has found the back of the net twice this season.
