CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Seniors Cori Bassett and Anna McDonald and junior Kate Buesser of the sixth-ranked Harvard women’s hockey team have been selected to the ECAC Hockey All-Star Game roster. The 21 student-athletes, which represent 10 of the ECAC Hockey women’s programs, will place the 2010 U.S. Women’s National Team in an exhibition game Sunday, Jan. 2 at the TD Bank Sports Center in Hamden, Conn.
A co-captain of the Crimson from Anchorage, Alaska, Bassett, a defender, has handed out six assists and has scored one power-play goal this season. A leader at the Crimson blue line, Bassett has helped Harvard attain the nation’s second-best scoring defense, allowing only 1.23 goals per contest. Harvard has shut out four teams, including No. 2 Minnesota in back-to-back games Dec. 4-5.
McDonald, a forward from New Brighton, Minn., is a two-time ECAC Hockey All-Academic performer. She has netted three goals, including one on the power play this year, and has also dished out three assists. In the season opener at Colgate Oct. 30, McDonald tallied the game-winning goal late in the second period.
Buesser, who leads Harvard in scoring with 15 points on six goals and nine assists, has registered multiple points in four games this year, including a season-best four points (one goal, three assists). Buesser, a forward, notched two goals in Harvard’s win over St. Lawrence Nov. 7 and has achieved a +14 rating, highest on the Crimson. She has also been named to the ECAC Hockey All-Academic team.
The game is scheduled for a 2 p.m. start. Tickets are $10 for adults, $5 for children and a $3 group-rate for 15-plus. Tickets for the event can be purchased at the Quinnipiac Box Office or by calling the ticket hotline at (203) 582-3905.
