CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - Sophomore Michelle Xie of the Harvard women's golf team bested the field to pace the Crimson at the Harvard Invitational at The Oaks Club, Heron Course, in Osprey, Florida.
Xie shot plus-four on the first day, before storming back to post scores of 71 and 68 and lead the field. The Palo Alto, California native defeated the No. 2 finisher by five strokes, finishing one under for the weekend. Xie was the lone player to finish under on the 72-par golf course.
The Crimson finished third overall, as Princeton won the event with a total of +30. Boston University came in second (+32), followed by Harvard with a total score of 905 (+41). Harvard posted its best mark on the second day, leading the field with a score of 295.
Harvard will be back in action next weekend at the Hartford Hawks Invitational, held in Bloomfield, Connecticut at the Tumble Brook Country Club.
