Women’s Fencing Heads to Sacred Heart Invitational

CAMRIDGE, Mass.- The Harvard women's fencing team looks toward Sacred Heart's Invitational on Dec. 2 with events beginning at 8 a.m. The Crimson squad will compete against five teams, opening up with Temple, followed by NYU, Penn State, Sacred Heart and Vassar.

During the women's last outing, five Crimson members placed in the top-10 of their respective weapons, including Sharon Ra, Catherine Beddingfield, Martha Merriam, Veronica Czyzewski and Gabrielle Tartakovsky.

What to Know

  • Seniors Gabrielle Tartakovsky and Shawn Wallace serve as the 2018-19 captains.
  • Last time the Crimson and Pioneers squared off, Harvard won 19-8, clinching scores in foil and epee, while edging Sacred Heart 5-4 in sabre.
  • Harvard continued to win the tournament last year, 4-1, with victories over Vassar (24-3), NYU (22-5), and Penn State (14-13)
