  • Harvard Announces Women’s Heavyweight Crew Coaching Endowment

    CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The John D. Nichols ’53 Family Director of Athletics, Bob Scalise, and Harvard University are happy to announce the endowment of Harvard Athletics’ 24th head coach position, the Friends of Radcliffe Rowing Head Coach for Women’s Heavyweight Crew. Made possible through a group of dedicated and loyal rowing alumnae, friends and parents, the endowment ensures a commitment to the continued success of the Radcliffe rowing program. This is the second Harvard coaching position endowed in the last six months and the 28th overall.
  • 26 Members of Radcliffe Heavyweight, Lightweight Crews Earn CRCA National Scholar-Athlete Award

    CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Twenty-six (26) members of the Harvard women’s heavyweight and lightweight crew teams earned the Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association Scholar-Athlete Award as announced by the CRCA Tuesday. Seventeen (17) from the women’s heavyweight crew- Caroline Noble, Caroline Sharis, Desmond Goodwin, Erica Holmes, Georgia Bradley, Grace Eysenbach, Holly Conlon, Hope Cessford, Isabelle Bastian, Jenny Li, Lucy Hamilton, Mary McDermott, Meaghan Townsend, Rafaela Stalph, Rosie Poling, Teresa Rokos, and Sophia Young were honored.

    INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Concluding postseason competition this weekend, No. 14 Radcliffe heavyweight crew took 13th place at the 2019 NCAA Rowing Championships at Eagle Creek Park today, June 2. The Black and White’s first and second varsity eights, as well at its varsity four boat, earned first-place finishes in its respective races.

    INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Qualifying for postseason play as a team for the 18th time in program history, No. 14 Radcliffe heavyweight crew wrapped up the opening day of the 2019 NCAA Rowing Championships at Eagle Creek Park today, May 31. The Black and White’s first varsity, second varsity earned fourth in their respective heats, while the varsity fours placed fifth. Each boat will move into the C/D semifinals for the remainder of the regatta.

The Black and White’s first and second varsity eight boats captured first-place finishes in their heats, while the varsity fours placed fourth.

    CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – After receiving an at-large bid for the first time since 2015, the No. 14 Harvard-Radcliffe heavyweight crew will travel to Indianapolis, Ind. this weekend, May 31-June 2 to compete in the 2019 NCAA Rowing Championships at the Indianapolis Rowing Center at Eagle Creek Park. The regatta will crown national champions in varsity eight, second varsity right and varsity four competitions.

    INDIANAPOLIS, IND. – Earning at at-large bid to the 2019 NCAA Rowing Championships, the No. 14 Radcliffe heavyweight crew team has been selected for the championship, as announced by the league at the NCAA Selection show today, May 21. The Black and White will head to Indianapolis, Indiana from May 31-June 2 to compete in the field of 22.
  • No. 16 Radcliffe Heavyweight Crew Places Fourth at Ivy League Championships

    PENNSAUKEN, N.J. – Continuing postseason action, the No. 16 Radcliffe heavyweight crew placed fourth at the 2019 Ivy League Championships at the Cooper River in Pennsauken, N.J. today, May 19.  Following racing, Teresa Rokos was named to the All-Ivy first team, while Rafaela Stalph earned second team honors. After finishing in second during its morning heat, Radcliffe’s first varsity eight boat captured a fourth-place finish in its grand final race. The Black and White clocked in at 6:34.4, finishing ahead of fifth-place Penn and sixth-place Dartmouth.  In the second varsity eight race, Racliffe placed fourth as well after finishing second in its morning heat. The Black and White clocked in at 6:38.5, ahead of Penn and Cornell. Radcliffe’s third varsity finished fifth, while it’s varsity four B placed fourth and varsity four C earned third. 
  • No. 16 Radcliffe Heavyweight Crew Gears Up For Ivy League Championships

    What to Know - In program history, Radcliffe has claimed eight Ivy League titles: 1974, ’75, ’82, ’86, ’87, ’89, 2003 and 2012. - The Black and White enter the Championships ranked No. 16 in the CRCA/USRowing Coaches Poll, while three other Ivy League schools found a spot in the rankings as well: Brown (No. 7), Princeton (No. 8) and Yale (No. 9). - This will mark the seventh year that the Ivy League has staged a conference championship regatta. Radcliffe won the first event in 2012 and posted a fourth-place finish last year. - Last time out, the Black and White competed at Eastern Sprints and captured a second-place finish in its varsity eight race. Radcliffe secured a first-place finish in its second varsity eight race as the Black and White edged Rutgers for the victory.

    WORCESTER, Mass. – Kicking off postseason action, the No. 13 Harvard-Radcliffe heavyweight crew team earned a second-place finish at Eastern Sprints today, May 4 on Lake Quinsigamond. In its varsity eight race, the Black and White finished 4.2 seconds behind first-place Rutgers, clocking in at 6:35.6 in its grand final. Radcliffe’s varsity eight picked up one first-place finish in heat two with a time of 6:36.9.

  • No. 15 Radcliffe Heavyweight Crew Falls to No. 8 Brown

    PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The No. 15 Harvard-Radcliffe heavyweight crew team was defeated by No. 8 Brown today, April 20 on the Seekonk River. The two teams raced against incoming tide with 13-15 mph headwind gusting to 20+. Additionally, the varsity eight race featured rain. The Brown Bears topped the Black and White by 5.7 seconds in its varsity eight race, as Radcliffe clocked in at 7:15.10. Brown swept the last four races of the day, improving to 23-4 in its all-time series against Radcliffe.

    PRINCETON, N.J.- The No. 14 Harvard-Radcliffe Heavyweight Crew team competed at the Ivy Round Robins today, April 7, on Carnegie Lake. The Black and White faced host Princeton, Cornell, Dartmouth and Penn in the Class of 1975 Cup, securing a second-place finish, while also claiming runner-up in the Class of 1987 Plaque against Princeton and Cornell.

The Black and White will face league foes Princeton, Cornell, Dartmouth and Penn in the Class of 1975 Cup and Class of 1984 Plaque starting at 8 a.m. this Sunday, April 7. The regatta will be broadcast live on ESPN+ at Lake Carnegie.
  • Radcliffe Heavyweight Crew Takes First Varsity Eight Race at Ivy League/Big Ten Double Duals

    BELLEVILLE, Mich. – The Harvard-Radcliffe heavyweight crew team opened its season with strong performances this weekend on Lake Belleville at the Ivy League/Big Ten Double Duals, facing No. 9 Michigan, Michigan State and No. 17 Indiana across the two-day regatta. After falling to Michigan in each of its match ups during day one of racing, the Black and White bounced back with two first-place finishes on day two. Radcliffe’s first varsity eight kicked off the day with a two-second victory at 6:40.83 for first place over Indiana in second (6:42.53) and Michigan State (6:46.18) in third. The second varsity eight followed suit, securing a first-place finish after crossing the line at 7:01.4 with a three-second separation from Michigan State. Radcliffe’s third varsity eight took second in its race, clocking in at 7:53.12 behind Indiana who finished nearly 10 seconds earlier at 7:43.1. The Black and White bested third-place Indiana in that race, as the Hoosiers clocked in at 8:04.4.   • Five Harvard Athletes Selected for Rowing World Championships

    US Rowing announced earlier this week a group of 35 athletes, including five from Harvard, who will represent Team USA at the 2018 World Rowing Championships September 8-16 in Plovdiv, Bulgaria. The athletes were chosen from a competitive group at the 2018 Senior National Team selection camps with the men’s training center based in Oakland, Calif. and the women’s training center located in Princeton, N.J.

    Radcliffe heavyweight crew rising senior, Teresa Rokos, has been named a member of the 72-person roster for Team USA at the Under 23 World Championships July 25-29 in Poznan, Poland. Rokos will compete in the women’s four at the regatta.
