HENLEY-ON-THAMES, England—The Radcliffe heavyweight varsity eight placed second in the Henley Women's Regatta Sunday, falling to University College Dublin in the final of elite eights racing.
The Black and White had a first-round bye in the competition and defeated Thames/Henley by 1½ lengths. Radcliffe raced University College for the Sport's Council Cup in the final race of the regatta. It was a tight contest that saw University College secure the trophy by a half-length.
The Radcliffe second varsity eight raced Saturday, advancing to the quarterfinals with a lopsided win by five lengths against Reading before falling to Molesey Boat Club by three lengths. Newcastle University won the senior eight event to claim the GP Jeffries Cup.
Former Radcliffe captain Olivia Coffey '11 also represented the Black and White, racing in the elite single event. She was eliminated Saturday by Sport Imperial's Lucinda Gooderham, who would go on to win the event.
The Radcliffe varsity eight and Coffey will remain in England to compete in the Henley Royal Regatta June 27-July 3.
