Last Time Out
The Black and White won the varsity four B race, placed second in two others and took third in the varsity eight event in the Class of 1975 Cup regatta against No. 6 Princeton, No. 16 Cornell and Columbia. The Radcliffe varsity edged Cornell for third place by a half-second in 7:20.4. Columbia held off the Black and White by 1.3 seconds and finished five seconds behind the Tigers.

Last Season
The Dartmouth varsity posted a 7.6-second win in difficult conditions caused by strong tailwind to win the O'Leary Cup last season. Radcliffe overcame two boat-stopping crabs to place second, ahead of Minnesota and Syracuse. The Black and White placed second in all five races, and its varsity eight avenged its loss to the Big Green in a rematch the following morning.

History Lesson
The varsity eights are racing for the O'Leary Cup, named for Radcliffe coach Liz O'Leary, for the 13th time. The Big Green has won the cup the last two years and four times overall. The Black and White has taken the trophy seven times, and Syracuse won it in 2001.

Scouting the Opposition
Dartmouth's varsity eight (4-0) beat host Yale in a photo finish last weekend to remain undefeated. The Big Green also defeated Boston University in that race and previously downed Columbia and Northeastern here on the Charles. The Orange (5-5) opened the spring with a third-place finish in a seven-school field at Clemson. Syracuse also posted a win against Rutgers before falling to Northeastern and Penn last week.
