Three Radcliffe Athletes Accepted to USRowing U23 Camp

USRowing Release

Radcliffe heavyweight crew athletes Jill Carlson, Courtney Diekema and Jenna Gregoire are among 23 athletes who have been accepted to the 2012 Women’s Under 23 National Team Camp in Syracuse, N.Y., and Princeton, N.J., USRowing announced Wednesday.

The camp will select the women’s eight and the women’s quadruple sculls crews that will compete at the World Rowing Under 23 Championships July 11-15 in Trakai, Lithuania. In addition, the camp may select crews in the women’s four, pair and double sculls that will compete at the USRowing Under 23 National Team Trials June 24-27 in West Windsor, N.J. A full team roster will be named by July 1.

Carlson, a senior coxswain and team captain, has helped guide the Black and White varsity eight to a 4-1 dual record and No. 11 national ranking through two regattas this spring. Diekema, a junior from Holland, Mich., and Gregoire, a sophomore from Colorado Springs, Colo., occupied the six and five seats, respectively, in the Radcliffe varsity eight last weekend at Brown. All three athletes competed in the NCAA Championships last spring.

Virginia was the only other team to have three athletes selected for the camp.
