Promoted to associate head coach in 2017, Mike Roux joined the Harvard women’s basketball staff in 2015 after five years at the University of New Hampshire, including the last three as the associate head coach.
"I am very happy to name Mike our associate head coach,” said head coach Kathy Delaney-Smith. “His transition to Harvard was flawless. Mike has a strong ability to form relationships and develop players. He is in coaching for all the right reasons, which matches our philosophy perfectly here at Harvard and makes him an invaluable member of my staff."
Roux helped guide Harvard to a 21-9 record in 2016-17, the program’s 12th 20-win season and first since 2013-14. Harvard finished third in the Ivy League and qualified for the inaugural Ivy League Tournament. The Crimson earned a seventh WNIT bid in program history, advancing to the second round with a 69-56 win over New Hampshire on March 17.
Prior to his arrival in Cambridge in the summer of 2015, Roux served as an assistant for five years at the University of New Hampshire, including the last three as the associate head coach.
Coaching 10 all-conference players, Roux was the recruiting coordinator at UNH and served as acting head coach for 14 games during the 2012-13 season. Roux helped the Wildcats to its third-highest win total in program the following year.
Roux joined the UNH staff in 2010 after serving as an assistant coach at Holy Cross. Prior to his stint with the Crusaders, he spent two seasons as an assistant coach at Southern New Hampshire University, where he helped lead the Penmen to an overall record of 18-11 during the 2008-09 campaign. Before arriving at SNHU, Roux spent two seasons as an assistant coach for his alma mater Assumption College.
