Brett Benzio joined the Harvard women's basketball staff in September 2014 and serves as the director of basketball operations entering her second season in 2015-16.
Benzio arrived at Harvard after spending two seasons playing professionally for DJK Bamberg in Germany. The starting center, Benzio scored nearly seven points per game to go with a team-high 9.2 rebounds during the 2013-14 campaign. She also served as a youth coach during her tenure overseas.
A standout center in college, Benzio was the second player in Tulane school history to reach 1,000 points and 1,000 rebounds over her career. She graduated in 2012 after posting career averages of 8.2 points and 8.3 rebounds while shooting over 60 percent from the floor for the Green Wave.
Prior to departing for Germany, Benzio served on the Final Four Local Organizing Committee in New Orleans. Her responsibilities for the event included preparing travel arrangements and contacting sponsors. Adding to her leadership background, Benzio served as an undergraduate student government liaison on the Student-Athletic Advisory Council, where she represented the views of the student-athlete population.
