CAMBRIDGE, Mass. -- Freshman guard Katie Benzan earned Ivy League Rookie of the Week honors, the conference announced today.
Benzan had another standout night on Saturday (Jan. 21), leading Harvard with 17 points and adding six rebounds, an assist and a steal in a 70-61 win at Dartmouth. It marked the sixth time this season Benzan has paced Harvard in scoring, and the eighth time this season that she has hit three or more three-pointers in a game.
Benzan is currently ninth in the country in three-point shooting percentage (41-for-87, 47.1%).
Harvard is off to its best start in program history at 14-1 (2-0 Ivy League) and has the fourth longest winning streak in the nation. The Crimson received a vote in the latest AP Women's Basketball Top 25 Poll.
Harvard will be in action this weekend against Cornell and Columbia at Lavietes Pavilion, beginning with a Friday night (Jan. 27) contest against Cornell. Tip off is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. and the game will air on the Ivy League Digital Network.
